Biomedics 1 Day Extra contact lenses: common questions

Do I need a prescription to order Biomedics 1 Day Extra contact lenses?

Yes. You need a current contact lens prescription. A contact lens prescription is not the same as a glasses prescription: it names the lens brand, base curve (BC) and diameter (DIA), and the powers often differ from your glasses. Order the exact lens and details written on your prescription for each eye.

How much do Biomedics 1 Day Extra contact lenses cost?

The price for your prescription and quantity is shown above once you choose your options for each eye. Buying more boxes at once lowers the price per box, and the Monthly Subscription is the lowest price per box, 17% less than a single box. Delivery is free.

Can I reuse Biomedics 1 Day Extra daily lenses?

No. Biomedics 1 Day Extra is a daily disposable lens. Put in a fresh pair each day and throw them away after one wear. There is no cleaning or storage.

Can I sleep in Biomedics 1 Day Extra contact lenses?

No. Biomedics 1 Day Extra is not for overnight wear. Sleeping in soft contact lenses is consistently linked with a higher risk of serious corneal infection than daytime-only wear. As a precaution, take your lenses out before any sleep, including naps.

Can I swim or shower in contact lenses?

It is best avoided. Tap, pool, spa and shower water are not sterile and can carry Acanthamoeba, a rare organism that can cause a severe corneal infection. Case-control studies link this infection with storing lenses in tap water (in rigid lens wearers) and with wearing reusable lenses while swimming or bathing. Findings for showering are mixed. Keep lenses and cases away from water.

How does the Monthly Subscription work?

Choose the Monthly Subscription option above and your lenses are reordered and charged automatically each month, so you do not run out, saving you 17% compared with buying a single box. Delivery is free. You can pause or cancel anytime.

Eye pain, redness, light sensitivity or blurred vision? Remove your lenses and contact your optometrist the same day.
